Within the framework of the program assessing the current status of awareness and implementation of Responsible Business Practices (RBP) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards in Vietnam, a delegation from the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Ho Chi Minh City Branch (VCCI-HCM) conducted an official visit and on-site survey at the office and factory of Cat Van Loi Industrial Electrical Equipment Manufacturing Joint Stock Company.
This visit is part of a series of in-depth field surveys jointly organized by VCCI-HCM, Catalyst+ (Canada), and leading experts throughout May and June 2026. The program aims to gather objective, multi-dimensional insights from pioneering enterprises, serving as a foundation to develop support programs that enhance competitive capacity and meet stringent standards in international supply chains.
The delegation was led by Mr. Nguyen Huu Nam, Deputy Director of VCCI-HCM, who directly oversees SME support and international integration programs. Joining the delegation were two seasoned experts in sustainable development and corporate governance: Ms. Nguyen Thị Phuong Mai and Ms. Tran Thu Anh.
On behalf of Cat Van Loi Company, the Board of Directors, along with departmental representatives and the labor network, extended a warm welcome to the delegation and cooperated closely to provide the most comprehensive overview of the company's operations.
Field Survey: When ESG is More Than Just a Slogan
During the working session, the VCCI-HCM delegation toured Cat Van Loi’s executive office and modern manufacturing plant. As a leading enterprise in Vietnam's supporting industries, Cat Van Loi proactively demonstrated how it integrates sustainable development into its core manufacturing processes—ranging from raw material input control, energy conservation, and waste management to ensuring maximum occupational safety for factory workers.
In addition to inspecting the technical infrastructure, the delegation's experts conducted in-depth, independent interviews with two distinct groups:
-
Management Group: A 45-minute discussion with representatives of the Board of Directors regarding strategic direction, opportunities, and challenges faced by the enterprise when adopting ESG/RBP.
-
Labor Group: Direct interviews with 1–2 worker representatives at the factory floor (approximately 30 minutes per person) to listen to their thoughts, awareness, and actual assessments of the working environment, welfare benefits, and human rights within the company.
Positive Feedback from VCCI-HCM and Future Directions
Speaking at the wrap-up session of the survey, Mr. Nguyen Huu Nam, Deputy Director of VCCI-HCM, highly commended the proactive spirit and initial achievements of Cat Van Loi on its responsible business practice roadmap. He emphasized that practical models like Cat Van Loi would serve as invaluable case studies for VCCI-HCM and Catalyst+ (Canada) to research and develop highly practical training programs and support policies, helping the Vietnamese business community integrate effectively into the global arena.
The two experts, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Mai and Ms. Tran Thu Anh, also shared profound professional advice and recommendations. These insights aim to help Cat Van Loi optimize its internal governance system, allowing the company to not only fulfill domestic RBP commitments but also confidently navigate increasingly strict ESG technical barriers in export markets.
The visit and assessment concluded successfully, opening up numerous collaborative opportunities between VCCI-HCM and the enterprise on the journey toward long-term prosperity and sustainable development.
